DJ Maphorisa Reacts to the ongoing Diss Between Big Zulu and other Hip Hop Rappers
Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe is a South African record producer, vocalist, and disk jockey. However, Themba operates on an international level, while still employing afro-pop and house music styles. Thenba Sekowe is widely referred to as DJ Maphorisa. This disk jockey is recognized for his collaborations with international artists. He has collaborated with the likes of Kwesta, Uhuru, Wizkid, and even the American superstar, Drake. It was his collaborations with artists like these that rose him to stardom.
Big Zulu has been the topic of conversation on social media all week. The 36-year-old rapper sparked a wave of responses, both negative and positive, after he released a diss track that addresses a host of local stars. K.O and Kwesta are two of the high-profile rappers to have responded so far as the hype on social media intensifies. In the midst of all of this, K.O isn’t taking any of the drama personally. Maphorisa however, showed a huge interest in hip-hop and what is happening around it at the moment. “Hip Hop neh papapapapa im loving it,” he wrote.

Maphorisa once revealed that he owes his success to Kalawa Jazmee, the recording label that has given him an opportunity to do what he loves. “I’ve always envisioned myself being successful. When I got my first computer and realised that I could produce, I started making beats and became a DJ. That’s when I knew that I would one day go far,” he said.
He added that Mjakes from Kalawa Jazmee gave him his big break and told him that he had talent that needed to be nurtured. He shares that his love for Amapiano was influenced by his travels. “I’ve travelled to different countries and got to experience different beats and dances. That has helped with my music.” But DJ Maphorisa, who is at the height of his career, is not without controversy. He believes that some of his industry peers are jealous of him. “I think they are jealous of me because they stick to one thing and I’m all about diversity. It makes them mad that I’m a versatile artist,” he shared.
